Estepona was a small fishing village which expanded from the late sixties into a busy and thriving town. For years overshadowed by its more glamorous neighbour, Marbella, Estepona is now firmly established in its own right.
The publication of the new Area Plan shows the new rail link, hospital, motorway links, commercial and retail centres and a planned development of some 80,000 new homes.
The city of Estepona has come of age and holds an unrivalled position for both business and residents whilst benefiting hugely from the tourist industry, particularly geared toward the higher end tourist. A number of new 4 and 5 star hotels and spas have recently opened and of course Estepona is in the heart of golfing country, with its many established courses and more being built.
Estepona epitomises the future of the Costa del Sol. Superb links via road and rail. 40 minutes from Malaga International airport. 30 Minutes from Gibraltar. The rapidly expanding regional airports of Jerez and Seville, both within a short drive.
Extensive Blue Flag beaches washed by the warm waters of the Mediterranean are, of course, famous.
Winter sports in the Sierra Nevada are within two and a half hours and the historic cities of Granada, Cordoba and Seville are all easily visited in a day.
